Japan Earthquake Strikes During Surgery as Surgeons Struggle to Save Patient | Earthquake News

Dramatic surveillance footage from a Japanese hospital shows the terrifying moment a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck southwestern Japan on July 28, with surgeons forced to hold onto an operating table while a patient was undergoing surgery.

CCTV from the Japan Community Health Care Organization Kumamoto General Hospital in Kumamoto Prefecture captured medical staff performing the procedure when the powerful earthquake struck.

As the operating room violently shook, equipment was thrown into disarray and staff rushed to prevent objects from falling. Surgeons were seen desperately holding onto the operating table to protect the patient during the intense shaking.

Authorities said the earthquake killed at least 30 people, while around 6,700 residents in Kumamoto remained in evacuation centres after homes collapsed or suffered severe damage.
