The proposed visit of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to Canada has triggered a political and diplomatic controversy, with Canadian opposition MPs and a coalition of civil society and human rights organisations calling for action against the visit.

More than 260 groups have reportedly urged the Canadian government to prevent Bhagwat from entering the country and have also called for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to be designated as a terrorist entity. The demands come ahead of Bhagwat’s planned visit later this month.
