At least three inmates are dead, and more than 20 are injured after fighting broke out at several prisons across Sri Lanka, including Kuruwita Prison and Pallansena Open Prison, where inmates climbed onto the roof in protest over overcrowding and case delays. Officials suspect narcotics gangs were involved and are investigating whether the unrest was part of a coordinated campaign. The violence comes just weeks after an incident at Negombo prison killed 32 people, with 61 prisoners now facing charges over that attack.
