Delimitation, Cauvery & TASMAC HC Order Dominate Heated TN Assembly Debate | SoSouth

The Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed debate as Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister Aadhav Arjuna engaged over the delimitation bill and requests for an all-party meeting. Aadhav Arjuna cited inputs from Delhi indicating the DMK might walk out or support the delimitation bill, a claim DMK leaders rejected while emphasizing their long-standing opposition. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vijay addressed the Cauvery and Mekedatu water disputes, explaining his efforts to resolve the issue with Karnataka. On financial matters, the assembly unanimously passed a resolution introduced by the state finance minister demanding Tamil Nadu's full share of central tax devolution from the Union government. Outside the assembly, anti-NEET protesters continued a seven-day hunger strike, resulting in one individual being hospitalized at Kilpauk Government Hospital. Additionally, the Madras High Court directed the state government to deploy police at TASMAC liquor outlets to prevent overcharging and curb illegal collection practices on liquor sales.
