The Indian government has summoned Meta's global team for meetings on August 5 and 6 following controversy over the temporary restriction of a Prime Minister Narendra Modi Facebook post. Officials are expected to raise concerns related to content moderation, platform accountability, handling of verified accounts, child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and AI-generated content.
The move comes after Meta said the restriction of PM Modi's Facebook video happened due to an error. The issue has triggered a wider debate over social media platforms, transparency and how global tech companies handle sensitive public content.
