A political row erupted in Tamil Nadu following DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's allegedly sexist remark targeting actor Trisha Krishnan, who is close to Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. An FIR was registered against Udayanidhi following his statement at a protest rally in Thanjavur, leading to police arriving at his Chennai residence. Police faced resistance from his wife Kiruthika Udhayanidhi and party leader M Subramaniam before taking him into custody. Udayanidhi denied naming Trisha and called the action "revengeful," stating "Let the court decide." The arrest sparked DMK protests and effigy burning, prompting counter-protests by TVK cadres. The Madras High Court subsequently directed police to release Udhayanidhi after questioning after the government stated he would not be jailed.
