CJP Protest | Fake Social Media Accounts Used To Amplify Posts? Police Seek Info From Meta, Google

Delhi Police has claimed to have uncovered a coordinated digital misinformation campaign linked to the CJP protest violence. According to officials, investigators identified and moved to block over 400 social media accounts, many allegedly linked to Pakistan, for spreading fake news, AI-generated content, deepfakes and edited videos related to the protests. Police said the campaign sought to amplify inflammatory narratives online and mislead the public, while investigations into the July 20 violence continue. Authorities have also written to social media platforms seeking the removal of objectionable content and urged citizens to verify information before sharing it.
