In the Bankipur Assembly by-poll in Bihar, Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor secured his maiden electoral victory, ending the Bharatiya Janata Party's 30-year hold on the constituency. Kishor defeated candidates from the BJP and the Rashtriya Janata Dal by over 19,000 votes. Following the result, Kishor termed the election a referendum on Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and demanded his resignation while highlighting youth unemployment, student protests, and migration. Political analysts cited voter dissatisfaction, anti-incumbency, candidate selection, and youth unrest as key factors in the outcome. In other by-election results, the BJP retained the Manjalpur seat in Gujarat, while the Indian National Congress retained the Datia constituency in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, student protests over alleged paper leaks and recruitment corruption in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Commission exams expanded from Delhi's Jantar Mantar to Ranchi, Jharkhand. Led by Devendra Nath Mahto at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, demonstrators initiated an indefinite hunger strike demanding CBI and ED investigations from the Hemant Soren government.
