Three people were killed and at least 21 others injured after an improvised explosive device detonated outside a restaurant in central Moscow on August 1. Russian authorities said an unidentified woman carrying the device was stopped by a security guard while attempting to enter the Balzi Rossi restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square before the explosion occurred. The woman, the security guard and a restaurant patron were killed in the blast. Investigators are examining whether the bomb was detonated remotely and whether others were involved. The explosion triggered a major emergency response and prompted authorities to cancel a public event scheduled nearby.
