Heavy monsoon rainfall has triggered widespread destruction across Kerala's Idukki district, causing deadly landslides, disrupting traffic, and prompting rescue operations. A landslide struck a house in Vagamon, killing Prabhakaran Nair, a resident of Vaikom. Authorities confirmed that his body had not yet been recovered as rescue efforts continued. Another landslide was reported in Adoormala, where one person is feared trapped beneath the debris. Emergency teams have been deployed to the area to carry out search and rescue operations.
Meanwhile, a landslide near Machiplavu in Adimali disrupted traffic on the Kochi–Dhanushkodi National Highway, affecting movement through the region.
