CONCACAF calls for review of FIFA leadership

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) has reacted to the news that FIFA has withdrawn its plans to sell a stake in the World Cup.

In a statement, CONCACAF said it and its 41 member associations "welcome the withdrawal of the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise."

But CONCACAF has also called for a "full review" of FIFA's leadership as it attacked "this recent unilateral and egregious act of poor governance and leadership" which it said "follows a pattern of missteps and similar behaviour".

It comes amid growing pressure within football on president Gianni Infantino to step down or be forced out over the matter.
