Massive wildfires raging in France, Spain put pressure on firefighters

Massive wildfires have put pressure on firefighters in France and Spain, as wildfires continue to rage near Bordeaux and Madrid.

On Thursday, the French government gave the green light for some 84,000 evacuees to return home.

One man said he feared if he didn’t return “quickly,” he wouldn’t be able to return at all.

“I was the one that warned them this one was burning,” Aurelio Bord said, pointing towards a damaged home. “When they went around with the firefighters, they saw that there was another one behind it, because sometimes, with the vegetation, you can't see very well, so they arrived too late; they let that one burn and protected the house behind it."

Extreme heat in Europe has fueled wildfires from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, with a fire also raging now near Athens, Greece.
