Raging wildfires swept toward the town of Formariz in Spain's Zamora province as firefighters, residents, and heavy machinery worked around the clock to contain the advancing flames. Emergency crews deployed water hoses and carried out controlled burns, while local residents armed with shovels and tractors helped create firebreaks to slow the wildfire's spread.
The fires are part of a broader wildfire crisis affecting Spain and neighboring France, where thousands have been evacuated and vast stretches of forest have been scorched.
