The Supreme Court observed that it is not inclined to impose a blanket ban on the use of pellet guns for crowd control, noting that police rules permit their use as part of a graded response in exceptional circumstances. While describing a complete ban as too broad, the court expressed openness to laying down a clear protocol for government use of pellet guns. In a panel debate hosted by Gaurav on India Today, former UP Police DGP Arvind Kumar Jain defended the security forces, stating, 'inquiry of CRPF, RAF... established that order was given by DCP'. BJP spokesperson Dr. Syed Zafar Islam cited parliamentary statements asserting that 'no pellet gun was used, and there was no firing on the students', urging patience until internal inquiry reports are completed. Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Colonel Rohit Chaudhari criticized the authorities for alleged disproportionate use of force, pointing out contradictions between Delhi Police and CRPF reports.
