Breaking News: Lok Sabha Passes Anti-Paper Leak Bill; Exam Reform Provisions | Parliament Session

The Lok Sabha passed the Public Examinations Amendment Bill 2026 via voice vote. The legislation aims to introduce stricter measures to curb paper leaks in public examinations, including penalties of up to ten crore rupees, imprisonment for up to ten years, a three-month deadline for completing trials, and a sixty-day investigation timeline. Following its passage in the lower house, the bill will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha for further consideration. A parliamentary committee headed by Nandan Nilekani has also been set up to integrate technology into the examination system to prevent leaks. Alongside the legislative proceedings, parliamentary discussions witnessed political flashpoints between government and opposition members regarding previous remarks made against the Union Home Minister, with the government seeking a retraction or apology. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were subsequently adjourned until the following day.
