HRW accuses Indonesia of persecuting Indigenous leaders, environmental activists

A new report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) accuses Indonesian authorities of using the justice system to intimidate environmental activists and Indigenous leaders, who oppose major development projects.
The rights group says many have been charged under the sweeping provisions of the criminal code, facing offenses from defamation to theft.
