Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed a major political reform by seeking to lower the minimum age to contest elections from 25 to 21 years. The move is aimed at encouraging greater participation of young people, especially Generation Z, in the democratic process and creating more opportunities for youth leadership.

According to the Chief Minister, the proposal reflects the aspirations of India's younger generation and seeks to make politics more inclusive. The Telangana government plans to discuss and pass a resolution on the issue during a special Assembly session in August, after which it is expected to be forwarded to the Central Government for consideration.
