Gaza artist crafts ouds from aid box wood amid war shortages

In Gaza, Palestinian artist Suhail Abu Shawish is crafting ouds and repairing musical instruments using wood salvaged from humanitarian aid boxes. With electricity and running water scarce, and the price of wood and strings soaring amid the war, he has turned to improvisation to keep his craft alive. Many instruments have been damaged and music institutes destroyed or shut down, yet Abu Shawish continues his work, describing music as "the language of the world and a language of peace" that runs through Palestinian heritage.
