On Camera: CJP Protesters Attack Delhi Police With Stones, More Than 50 Security Personnel Injured

Video from a protest in central Delhi shows a mob surrounding a uniformed police officer, dragging him to the ground and assaulting him. Other footage shows stone pelting at Delhi Police, the Rapid Action Force and other Central Armed Police Forces personnel near Parliament Street and Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place. Delhi Police is compiling CCTV recordings, mobile phone videos and viral clips to identify those involved and register multiple First Information Reports over attacks, vandalism and property damage. More than 70 people have been detained for questioning, while more than 50 police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel were injured. Vehicles and public and private property were also damaged. Police used tear gas and force to disperse protesters attempting to move towards Parliament. Delhi Police denied social media claims that a 12-year-old child had been assaulted and appealed to protesters to remain peaceful, follow lawful directions and avoid sharing unverified information.
