US President Donald Trump says the latest American strikes on Iran are aimed at preventing Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
Speaking at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump defended the military campaign, saying the objective has expanded beyond earlier operations and is focused on ending Iran’s ability to build a nuclear capability.
The president also addressed Canadian wildfires that have sent smoke across parts of the United States, suggesting Canada should improve forest management and warning that Washington may seek compensation or impose tariffs.
Al Jazeera examines Trump’s comments as the conflict with Iran continues and questions remain over the path ahead.
