That failure is the whole point of an 8.6-kilometer fence wrapped around 225 hectares of forest — a barrier built to stop 13 species of mammal at once, with no electricity and no poison built into the structure itself. Just wire mesh, a steel cap, and a buried skirt, tested until it could not be beaten.
