The Esports World Cup has arrived in Paris for the first time, bringing one of the world's biggest competitive gaming events to the French capital.

BBC journalist Andrew Rogers was given exclusive behind-the-scenes access as the competition got underway.

Esports Foundation CEO Mike McCabe explains how organisers transformed a venue into a world-class esports arena in just eight weeks, switching out of Riyadh for the first time. The event was moved because of ongoing conflict in the region, although bosses say the EWC will return to Saudi Arabia in 2027.

With a combined prize pool of $75m (£55m), more than 2,000 competitors and millions expected to watch around the world, the event is one of the largest in professional gaming.
