PM Modi Wraps Australia Tour At MCG; Historic New Zealand Visit Focuses On Trade

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the Australian leg of his three-nation tour with a visit to the Melbourne Cricket Ground alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The leaders launched the India-Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap to strengthen cooperation in sports science and training. Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's plans to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and its efforts to host the 2036 Olympics. In a major announcement, Prime Minister Albanese stated that Australia's Big Bash League will debut in India, with a season opener scheduled in Chennai on December 12. Following his Australian engagements, Prime Minister Modi departed for Auckland, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years. The New Zealand visit will focus on unlocking the newly signed free trade agreement, which makes 57% of New Zealand's exports tariff-free. Discussions with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will also cover agriculture technology, maritime security, education, and Indo-Pacific cooperation, while Prime Minister Modi will address the Indian diaspora at the Kia Ora Modi event.
