Former TMC MP Sushmita Dev Join BJP, Named Rajya Sabha Candidates To Boost NDA's Upper House Push

Three former Rajya Sabha members of the Trinamool Congress have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The leaders resigned from both the upper house and their former political party amid reports of internal rebellion. Following their induction by the state unit president of the saffron party, they were immediately nominated as candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections. This development is expected to strengthen the numbers of the ruling national alliance in the upper house of parliament, moving it closer to its goal of achieving a two-thirds majority. While the ruling alliance projects the crossover as a sign of growing trust in its national leadership, the opposition party has dismissed the move, calling the defectors turncoats.
