In this week's garage gym renovation, I'm finally moving out of the storage room and into the main gym space! After using the storage room as a chance to learn the Trusscore installation system, it's time to start transforming the actual workout space.
I'm sharing why I chose closed-cell spray foam insulation over traditional insulation and vapor barrier, how much time it saved, and why Trusscore has been one of the biggest game changers on this renovation. Seeing a finished wall the moment it's installed is incredibly motivating when you're balancing a major renovation, motherhood, and running a business.
This week I tackle:
• Installing Trusscore wall panels and trim
• Planning blocking for a future pull-up bar
• Installing Trusscore SlatWall panels
• Cleaning and testing the durability of Trusscore after leaving it outside
• Removing the old garage door and preparing for a new exterior door
• Waterproofing and prepping the rough opening
• Sharing my thoughts on natural wood siding versus black siding for the garage exterior
• Taking a break from the garage to finish another room in the house with RONAPRO by Dulux paint
• The reality of juggling renovation projects, deadlines, and motherhood
One of the biggest realizations I've had during this project is that confidence comes from doing. Starting with the storage room gave me the chance to make mistakes, learn the system, and build the confidence to tackle the gym itself. Every completed wall feels like another step toward the finished space.
Every week this project gets a little closer to becoming the home gym I've been envisioning, and it's exciting to finally see real progress.
