“We hit Iran very hard,” said Donald Trump after three cargo ships were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. military said it had launched fresh strikes on Iran aimed at keeping the vital shipping lane open, hours after Trump declared that an interim agreement to end the conflict was "over."
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical energy chokepoints, carrying around a fifth of global oil supplies before the conflict began. While Iran has not claimed responsibility for the attacks on the cargo ships, tensions in the region continue to escalate.
