International Olympic Committee lifting ban on Russian athlete despite ongoing war

Russian athletes could be back competing at the next Olympics. The International Olympic Commitee (IOC) has lifted the suspension it put in place in 2023, after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

But three years after the fact, the war is still raging.

So why might the IOC have changed its position?
