Thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran as Iran held a massive funeral procession for late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Crowds filled the streets around Azadi Square in one of the largest memorial events since his death.

The procession follows days of nationwide mourning ceremonies after Khamenei was killed during the recent conflict involving Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran.

A day earlier, three of Khamenei's sons were seen praying beside his casket. However, Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, did not appear at the procession, with reports suggesting he is recovering from injuries sustained in the attack that killed his father.
