At least 25 people have been killed and approximately 100 others injured after a brutal, two-day gang riot erupted at the high-security Negombo Prison in Sri Lanka. The violence, which began on Sunday, July 5, 2026, represents the country's deadliest prison riot in more than five years. Among the 25 confirmed dead are four prison guards. Many of the deceased and the 100 injured suffered severe gunshot wounds.
