DID CHRISTOPHER NOLAN MAKE THE BEST BATMAN TRILOGY!? We're back with another Mom & Daughters Reacts, and this time Tessa (Mama's Geeky), Lorie, and Ivy are finishing Christopher Nolan's legendary¯ Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises! And WOW... what an ending. After absolutely loving Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, we couldn't wait to see how Nolan would wrap up Bruce Wayne's story. What we got was an emotional, action-packed, and surprisingly heartbreaking conclusion that had all three of us completely invested. This movie is full of twists we never saw coming. From the truth about Talia al Ghul to Bane's real role in the story, every time we thought we knew where things were headed, the movie pulled the rug out from under us. And speaking of Bane... WOW. Tom Hardy is incredible. Bane is intimidating from the moment he appears, and watching him systematically break Batman physically, mentally, and emotionally made the stakes feel higher than ever before. One of the most shocking moments in the entire trilogy is watching Bane break Batman's back and take control of Gotham. Seeing Bruce trapped in the pit while Gotham descended into chaos had us completely stressed out. We also loved seeing Selina Kyle (Catwoman) become such an important part of the story. Her dynamic with Bruce was fantastic, and Anne Hathaway absolutely won us over. But honestly? The ending DESTROYED us. Watching Batman seemingly sacrifice himself to save Gotham had us all sobbing. The emotional farewell to Alfred was heartbreaking enough, and then came that final reveal that Bruce survived and finally found peace. And can we talk about that ending with John Blake? The reveal that his legal first name is Robin was such a cool moment! We were immediately ready for a Robin movie... and now we're honestly kind of bummed it never happened.
What an incredible way to close out one of the greatest superhero trilogies ever made.
Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, Ford v Ferrari) delivers a powerful final performance as Bruce Wayne / Batman, bringing his journey full circle. Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Venom) is phenomenal as Bane, one of the most physically imposing villains in superhero movie history. Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, The Devil Wears Prada) steals nearly every scene she's in as Selina Kyle / Catwoman. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer) shines as John Blake, whose storyline leads to one of the film's biggest surprises. Michael Caine (The Prestige, Interstellar) delivers some of the trilogy's most emotional moments as Alfred Pennyworth. Gary Oldman (Harry Potter, Darkest Hour) continues to be excellent as Commissioner Gordon. Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en) returns as Lucius Fox, one of Bruce's most trusted allies. Marion Cotillard (Inception, La Vie en Rose) plays Miranda Tate / Talia al Ghul in one of the film's biggest twists.
