In this episode, I will show you a remote wooden cabin and an old farm building located high in the mountains, deep within the Wild Forests of the Carpathians, far from civilization.
Many years ago, these buildings were inhabited by Ukrainians belonging to the Boyko ethnic group. By the way, I am also a Boyko myself. The people who lived here made their living through farming and livestock breeding, enduring the harsh mountain conditions.
In this documentary-style video, you will see rare footage of an abandoned mountain homestead. I will show you the old rooms, traditional household items, and everyday objects that were once used by our ancestors. To help preserve this place and keep its memory alive, I cleaned the area and cut the overgrown grass around the buildings.
Exploring such remote places is never without risk. In these mountains, I could encounter a bear, meet a wolf, or be bitten by a venomous Carpathian viper. Despite these dangers, I made this documentary to share a piece of our history and cultural heritage with you.
I am also grateful to my loyal dog Alt, whose companionship makes these long journeys through the mountains much easier.
