Emmy Award-winning writer, producer, actress, and creator Quinta Brunson visits PS 46 in Harlem, New York City to teach students how television shows are made—from the first spark of an idea to the final script. This episode of Celebrity Substitute celebrates creativity, storytelling, collaboration, and the power of student voices through the art of TV writing.
Quinta begins by introducing students to the building blocks of television writing, helping them develop original TV show concepts and craft compelling loglines. Then, she brings the class into a real writers' room, where they pitch ideas, debate storylines, and work together to create an original episode from scratch. Guided by Quinta's expertise, the students collaborate on characters, jokes, and plot twists before bringing their vision to life.
The lesson culminates with the debut of Ms. Quinta, a brand-new television show written entirely by the students. Through teamwork, imagination, and plenty of laughs, the young writers get a firsthand look at the creative process behind making television.
