Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has declared a state of emergency due to the imminent threat of wildfire.
Executive Order 26-10 was signed June 15, 2026, the same day that the Oregon Department of Forestry said the state entered fire season.
“This declaration ensures that the state’s primary fire agencies, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and the Oregon Department of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) have access to the available resources necessary to fully execute their wildfire suppression missions to protect lives, property and the environment,” the governor’s office said in a press release.
State fire officials said the declaration is less about current fire activity and more about ensuring resources can move quickly if conditions worsen.
