I set out for a peaceful weekend of teardrop camping with Juniper, hoping for a quiet primitive campsite and a little solitude. But when my first campground choice didn’t feel quite right, I had to move on to Plan B: the Wildcat Hollow Trailhead near Burr Oak in Ohio.
At first, camping beside a busy trailhead parking lot felt a little strange. There were hikers, backpackers, dogs, cars coming and going, and not exactly the kind of solitude I was hoping for. But once I settled in, set up camp, made some coffee, relaxed by the fire, and explored the Wildcat Hollow Trail, the trip turned into something much better than expected.
In this video, Juniper and I spend two nights off-grid in the teardrop camper, hike part of the Wildcat Hollow trail system, test out a little privacy setup at camp, and enjoy a surprisingly peaceful weekend in a place that looked a little too busy at first.
Sometimes the campsite you end up with isn’t the one you planned for… but it might still be exactly what you needed.
