Counting of votes for the Punjab civic body elections began at 8 am amid tight security and elaborate arrangements by the State Election Commission. More than 21.38 lakh voters cast their votes to elect representatives across eight municipal corporations, 75 municipal councils, and 19 nagar panchayats.
The fate of 7,554 candidates will be decided as counting progresses under the supervision of election observers, micro-observers, and authorised officials. Authorities have ensured strict monitoring and restricted entry at counting centres to maintain transparency and fairness in the counting process.
