So apparently giving your new employee a company vehicle is supposed to be some kind of “professional business decision”… but instead I handed him the keys to my old tracked Jeep powered by a 5.9 Magnum V8 and immediately turned it into an off-road science experiment.
Naturally, I told him we were just going for a quick little “test drive” to make sure he liked it. Totally normal. Totally responsible. Definitely not a trap.
Meanwhile, my actual plan was to secretly route us deep into the Cascade mountains and out through a backroad that dumps into a town an hour away for lunch… because I was fully expecting snow, mud, bad decisions, questionable recovery choices, and at least one moment where we’d all be asking, “Should we REALLY keep going?”
But thanks to this weirdly warm and dry winter, there wasn’t a single snow drift left. No deep mud holes. No sketchy ice crossings. Nothing.
Instead of an extreme off-road torture test, it turned into the world’s most comfortable Sunday drive through the mountains. Honestly, it was pretty disappointing. The Jeep ran flawlessly, nobody got stuck, nobody needed rescued, and absolutely nothing dramatic happened… which is apparently the worst possible outcome for a YouTube video.
Still, David survived the experience, the tracked Jeep proved once again why it’s one of the coolest machines I’ve ever owned, and we at least got lunch out of the deal.
So come along as we attempt to test this V8 monster in the Cascades… only to discover that Mother Nature completely ruined our plans by being nice for once.
And as always, thank you all for watching and supporting these ridiculous adventures. Without you guys, I’d probably be making responsible financial decisions instead of handing employees V8 Jeeps and hoping they accidentally drive into a snowstorm.
