A deep dive into creating what might be the best RTX 5090 gaming PC setup of 2026. But honestly… this gaming PC build started long before the first component arrived. It started with a pair of sneakers.

I’ve always been a huge fan of classic 90s basketball sneakers. I grew up with that era, and I still absolutely love the aggressive shapes and crazy color combinations from those years. So when Nike announced the retro return of the Air Max Uptempo ‘95 Black / Volt, I already knew I had to get them.

I bought this pair during CES in Las Vegas… and almost immediately realized that this gaming PC had to exist too.

And here is the question... Is the RTX 5090 + Ryzen 7 9800X3D currently the best gaming combo you can build in 2026? Or would you choose something differently?

At the heart of this ultimate gaming PC sits the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with the monstrous ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Astral OC. Combined with the ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero motherboard, the entire gaming PC build feels unapologetically high-end.

The build lives inside the legendary Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL with a full ecosystem of Lian Li UNI FAN TL Wireless LCD fans.
