I’m sorry… a meeting? While OP was in labor? The way some bosses hear “medical emergency” and think “but can you circle back first?” is actually terrifying. This man really looked at a woman having contractions and said the calendar invite mattered more. Unwell.

In today’s story, OP is eight months pregnant at work when contractions start getting stronger and closer together, and she realizes this is not a false alarm. She tells her boss she needs to go to the hospital, and instead of acting like a normal human being, he tells her to stay for a “crucial” 1 PM meeting because the baby is not going to “pop out right now.” OP is pressured into sitting through a two hour meeting while actively in labor, then drives herself to the hospital and gives birth later that day. When HR finds out, it gets even worse: her boss had apparently emailed the office mocking her, accusing her of overreacting, and saying she was using pregnancy as an excuse. He gets suspended, but now OP is being treated like the villain at work for daring to report the man who thought labor was a scheduling inconvenience.
