When rising rent made retirement feel uncertain, Coby found another way. Instead of continuing to struggle with the pressure of renting on a pension, she chose tiny house living and created a beautiful off-grid tiny home where life feels calm, secure and deeply her own.
Her tiny home is a warm and peaceful retirement haven, set on a friend’s beautiful property and surrounded by nature, gardens and open space. The home is fully off-grid, with solar power, rainwater collection, a composting toilet, gas hot water and wonderfully low overheads, giving Coby the freedom to live simply and comfortably in retirement.
Inside, her tiny house is light, minimal and beautifully styled, with a cozy lounge, fireplace, full kitchen, spacious bathroom, washing machine, king-size loft bedroom and clever storage throughout. Outside, the deck becomes an extra living room, complete with an awning, outdoor seating and even a hidden spa bath, which Coby enjoys on hot days with a gin and tonic.
This is a story about so much more than downsizing. After years of renting, Coby now has a home that is truly hers. A safe, happy and creative space where she can enjoy her retirement, stay connected to nature, welcome family and friends, and continue building a life full of possibility.
