India: Kedarnath Route Hit By Landslide, Over 10,000 Pilgrims Rescued | FP Video
Heavy rain and landslides disrupted the annual Kedarnath Yatra route in Uttarakhand after a massive slide struck the Sonprayag-Gaurikund stretch, leaving thousands of pilgrims stranded overnight. Rescue teams from the SDRF, NDRF, police and district administration safely evacuated over 10,000 devotees despite dangerous weather and continuous debris flow. Authorities temporarily suspended the pilgrimage while clearing operations were carried out. Helicopter services also faced disruptions due to poor weather. Officials said more than six lakh pilgrims have visited Kedarnath Temple since the shrine reopened on April 22 for the annual pilgrimage season.
