In a landmark judgment, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled that the disputed Bhojshala-Kamal Maula complex in Dhar is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. The verdict marks a major development in one of India’s most closely watched heritage and religious disputes.
The court observed that the religious character of the site is associated with Goddess Vagdevi Saraswati and recognised Bhojshala as a historic centre of Sanskrit learning linked to Raja Bhoj of the Paramara dynasty. The judgment follows years of legal proceedings and an extensive survey conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India, which documented inscriptions, architectural remains, and historical evidence at the site.
