Kodak Alaris introduces two desktop document scanners

Kodak Alaris has expanded its document capture portfolio with two new network desktop models designed for distributed, document‑driven environments. The Kodak N2040 and N2050 Scanners give organisations a single capture standard that can be deployed across multiple sites, helping convert paper into accurate digital information wherever work takes place.

The N2000 Series combines production‑grade image science with a compact desktop footprint. The N2040 processes up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) / 80 images per minute (ipm), while the N2050 reaches 50 ppm / 100 ipm. Recommended daily volumes are 6,000 and 8,000 pages respectively.

Kodak Alaris is positioning the new scanners for small and medium‑sized businesses, branch offices, reception desks and remote workers. The units are designed to deliver consistent data flows across fleets, supporting operational standardisation and reducing downstream rework.

Image quality and paper handling are central to the launch. Perfect Page technology produces high‑quality images at small file sizes to reduce storage costs, and Dual Light illumination removes shadows and artefacts from damaged originals to improve OCR accuracy. The scanners support a wide range of media, and modular flatbed options allow users to capture bound books, fragile items and passports from a single workstation.

Both models include a 100‑sheet feeder and enterprise‑grade security features. Secure Boot and signed firmware ensure only trusted code runs, encrypted connections protect data in transit, and Digital Stamping embeds date, time and sequence information into every image to support audit‑ready records.

Gigabit Ethernet and Network EasySetup simplify deployment and enforce standard configurations across fleets. Bundled software includes TWAIN, ISIS and WIA drivers, Smart Touch and Kodak Capture Pro LE, enabling out‑of‑the‑box capture without additional licensing. A 3.5‑inch LED control panel supports integration into business processes, and Smart Touch allows customised workflows with one‑touch operation.

The N2000 Series is EPEAT Gold Registered and meets Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency and reduced hazardous substances.

Megan Bevilacqua, Director of Global Product Management & Channel Operations at Kodak Alaris, said distributed organisations often struggle with inconsistent capture practices: “The N2000 Series give them one capture standard they can deploy everywhere and defend when it counts. This way, multiple departments such as customer service, accounts and claims all produce the same trustworthy record.”
