An official website opened for the television anime adaptation of Yousuke Nakamaru and Kyoutarou Azuma's Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyou Bugeisha Ketteisen (Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun) manga revealed the main cast, staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video on Thursday. Nakamaru and Azuma originally began the samurai action manga in Young Magazine the 3rd in January 2021. Following the merger of the magazine into Monthly Young Magazine three months later, the manga resumed in the latter in May that year. Kodansha published the 13th volume on February 19, with the 14th volume scheduled to go on sale on August 20.
Kodansha's K Manga app and website simulpublishes the manga in English. The manga is also published in Italian by Star Comics.
Tenkaichi was nominated for the 8th Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho (Next Manga Award) in the Print category in 2022.
