North Kerry fast food restaurant issued with closure order in July
A North Kerry fast food restaurant was served with a closure order for breaches of food safety legislation last month.
13 enforcement orders were served on food businesses across the country during July, including one in Kerry.
Chicken Club at 1 the Square, Listowel was served a closure order by a HSE Environmental Health Officer on July 17th.
The report noted four non-compliance infringements including maintaining the premises in a clean and hygienic condition.
The inspector stated the restaurant was not clean at the time of the inspection, with grease, food debris and residue noted throughout the premises.
They found food - including chicken, rice and garlic butter - was stored at incorrect temperatures, while unsafe cooling procedures of a bucket of kebab meat was also noted.
The inspector outlined a failure to implement a food safety management system, highlighting a risk of cross-contamination and food safety due to uncontrolled hazards.
The HSE served a closure order on Chicken Club, Listowel on July 17th under the European Union (Official Controls in Relation to Food Legislation) Regulations, 2020.
However, the order was lifted again just three days later, on July 20th.
A spokesperson for the restaurant says they have addressed the matters noted by the HSE.
