One unfortunate aspect of mobile is that we have two massively separate platforms, with iOS and Android starkly separated. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen a great game only release on the App Store, and I wish I could download it via Google Play. Fortunately, sometimes that discrepancy is addressed, as it has been with A Space for the Unbound.
Now available on Google Play, A Space for the Unbound is a surprisingly high-stakes teen drama set in 1990s rural Indonesia. You follow the story of two teens and high-school sweethearts, Atma and Raya, as their melancholic end to their teen years comes to a head with an apocalyptic supernatural threat.
Schoolpocalypse Naturally, it's up to Atma and Raya to try and tackle the impending end of the world, and to do so they'll travel around their village interacting with and exploring the minds (literally) of their fellow residents. Of course, along the way they might just discover more about each other to boot.A Space for the Unbound has a mixture of melancholy and humorous adventure to be had as you explore the village, all rendered in neat retro fashion. And by now, we all know how much I love pixelated art.
Even if you're unsure if it's for you, you can dive into A Space for the Unbound totally free and play through the entire first chapter before deciding whether you want to make a full purchase. So if you thought your high-school graduation was lacklustre, maybe it's time to save the world while stepping into the next phase of your life?
