Two police officers were rushed to hospital after their unmarked car collided with an HGV in North Yorkshire.
The officers were driving an unmarked Peugeot 308 on the A64 between York and Malton when the collision occurred at 12.14pm on August 7.
Fortunately, the driver of the HGV was uninjured but the two officers, responding to an 'operational matter', suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
A portion of the road near Barton Hill, Yorkshire, was closed while the air ambulance responded to the crash and recovery work was carried out.
Footage of the car after the crash shared online showed the vehicle wreckage on the grass to the side of the main road.
The Peugeot's bumper was hanging off, its windscreen was smashed and the left side passenger door had been ripped off.
Debris from the collision can also be seen in the foliage further away from the road.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: 'We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a collision involving an unmarked police vehicle and a HGV on the A64 at Barton Hill.'

They added: 'Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote reference 12260152304.'
This is not the only unmarked police vehicle involved in a collision in recent years.
In April, two Met Police officers were charged after a pregnant woman and her baby were killed in a collision with an unmarked car.
