Woolworths' Everyday Extra membership is jumping 20 per cent in price after the supermarket giant switched to a monthly subscription model.

The loyalty scheme has phased out its annual fee, meaning existing members will remain on their current plan until their annual subscription expires.

After that, they will need to switch to a monthly plan if they want to keep their membership.

New customers will only be able to sign up for the monthly subscription, which costs $7 a month.

That means the membership, which previously cost $70 a year, will now cost $84 annually - a $14 increase.

Woolworths confirmed to Nine News that the annual membership ended in July 2026 and Everyday Extra will now only be available through the new monthly subscription.

Everyday Extra gives shoppers 10 per cent off one shop each month, as well as double Everyday Rewards points on eligible in-store purchases.

The scheme first launched in June 2022 as a monthly subscription, with the price remaining unchanged until now.

The hugely popular rewards scheme boasts more than 14 million members, but many shoppers were less than impressed by the changes online.

'Was considering ditching at the end of my year anyway, thanks for the shove Woolies!' one shopper said.

'FFS. I hate monthly subs,' another added.

The quiet overhaul of Woolworths' membership rules comes as rival supermarket Coles has also made changes to one of its subscription schemes.

Coles has increased the minimum spend required for members to qualify for free delivery from $50 to $75.

The change also comes with a new name, with 'Coles Plus' being rebranded as 'Coles Plus Delivery'.

Coles said the new name would 'better reflect the delivery benefits included with your subscription'.

Woolworths offers a similar delivery scheme separately from its Everyday Extra rewards program, known as Delivery Unlimited, which costs $149 per year or $17 per month.
