Naples Earthquake: Irish Family Flee Cracked Villa
An Irish family have described the terrifying moment they believed they were going to die when a Naples earthquake struck the town of Pozzuoli on Friday evening, sending them fleeing from their holiday villa as walls cracked and debris fell around them.Eimear Murphy described the frightening scene inside the damaged villa:“The walls are all cracked, the stairs are cracked, we cleaned up the debris but our clothes are destroyed with dust. We are afraid the whole building is going to fall down.”Italy’s civil protection minister Nello Musumeci warned that the volcanic activity was not yet over and urged caution as lower-intensity aftershocks continued through the night. Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the Murphy family said they were shaken but safe as they weighed up whether to cut their holiday short.
