One Jaguars player to watch at defensive end in training camp

With training camp for the Jacksonville Jaguars getting closer, which players should be on our radars as these practices and preseason games unfold?

As part of our training camp preview, we'll be highlighting one player from each position group to keep your eyes on. In some instances, it may be one of the Jaguars' top players that we'll be watching closely, or it could be a player fighting for playing time or a roster spot.

Up next are the defensive ends.

Leading the way at defensive end are Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker. But this position is heavily rotated, so strong depth is a must, and the Jaguars are in search of more pass rush consistency from their rotational players. Last season, the Jaguars ranked a modest 18th in pressure rate and 27th in sacks.

Among those expected to give this unit a jolt is fourth-round draft pick Wesley Williams, a defender that the Jaguars are very bullish on because of his play style and well-rounded skill set.

"Wesley is a guy (who's) going to run around all day," defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said earlier this offseason. "He's not a guy that you're going to find a clip of him taking a play off. He's just a high-character, tough kid. He's been pretty quick on the uptake. So, that's been exciting about him."

Williams has been a productive pass rusher during his last two seasons at Duke. This includes totaling 43 pressures in 2024 and 46 pressures in 2025, along with 13 total sacks.

He was also one of PFF's highest-graded run defenders at the defensive end position. Out of 100 eligible defensive ends last season, Williams ranked 28th in total pressures and 46th in pass rush win rate.

Williams' ability to hit the ground running and impact the game in a variety of ways will help elevate this position group as a whole, and that will benefit the rest of the defense. After all, the name of the game for every defense is getting after the quarterback.
