Woman found dead in Cottingley flat as man arrested for murder

Emergency services were called to Cottingley Towers at around 11.40pm on Friday, July 24, following concerns raised by a caller about individuals inside the property. A 58-year-old woman was found dead at the scene. A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Eleanor Buchanan, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "This has clearly been a very serious incident, and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what took place at this address. "We are continuing to hold a man in custody on suspicion of murder and specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family at this time. "Incidents such as this rightly cause concern among communities and I want to assure residents all necessary resources are being used to investigate what took place. "We can advise that we do believe the incident was isolated and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the matter." T/DCI Buchanan said: "Anyone who has any information about the incident or who saw or heard suspicious activity at flats on Cottingley Towers from 11pm on Friday evening is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team."
